Terms of Service

Effective date: 26 October 2026

These terms apply when you use the Pie app for iPhone (“Pie”, “we”, “us”) and this website. By using Pie you agree to them. Pie is distributed through Apple’s App Store, so Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies to your use of the app. Our Privacy Policy explains how Pie handles your information.

Using Pie

Pie is a tool for recording, reviewing and planning your own spending. Please use it lawfully and don’t:

  • try to access another person’s account or data;
  • interfere with, overload or disrupt Pie or the services it relies on;
  • get around Pie’s limits, purchase checks or security, or use automated means to access its cloud features;
  • copy, modify or reverse engineer the app, except where the law allows it;
  • use Pie to store or send unlawful content.

Your account

You can use Pie without an account. If you create one, you’re responsible for keeping access to your sign-in method (your Google account, phone number or email address) and for keeping your iPhone secure. If you think someone else has used your account, contact us. You can delete your account in the app at any time.

Your information and its accuracy

Pie works only with what you enter. You’re responsible for the accuracy of your entries, including currencies and any exchange rates you type, and for checking imported entries before you save them. Totals, reports, forecasts and insights are calculated from your entries and will be wrong if those entries are incomplete or incorrect. Keep your own records for anything important, such as tax or legal matters.

Your data stays yours. You allow us to store and process it only to provide Pie as described in the Privacy Policy.

Not financial advice

Pie is a record-keeping and budgeting tool. Nothing in Pie, including reports, forecasts, insights, AI budget reports and tips, is financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice. For decisions about your finances, talk to a qualified professional.

AI features

The AI budget report and cloud reading of notes are produced by an AI service (Google’s Gemini API). AI output can be inaccurate, incomplete or unsuitable for your situation. Check every imported entry before you save it, and don’t rely on AI output alone for financial decisions.

AI features are part of Pie Pro and have usage limits. For example, cloud reading is limited to 5 notes a day and 150 a calendar month per account. We may change these limits or pause the features, including for all users at once, for reasons such as cost, availability or abuse.

Pie Pro and payments

Pie Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, monthly or annual, sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, billing, renewal, cancellation and refunds under its own terms. The price is shown in the app before you buy and may vary by country. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple Account settings. Refund requests go to Apple.

When Pie Pro ends, Pro features and cloud sync stop, but nothing is deleted. Changes you make meanwhile stay on your iPhone and upload if you subscribe again. A Lifetime purchase made before it was withdrawn keeps Pro features permanently and includes cloud sync for 24 months from the original purchase date.

Availability and changes

We work to keep Pie useful and available, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. We may change, add or remove features and limits. Pie may be interrupted for maintenance or because of problems with the services it relies on, such as Apple’s and Google’s. Export your data or save a backup file regularly.

Suspension and termination

You can stop using Pie and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access to Pie’s cloud features if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms, if your use puts Pie or other users at risk, or if the law requires it. Where reasonably possible, we will tell you first and give you a chance to export your data.

Intellectual property

Pie’s app, design, name, logo and content belong to us or our licensors. You may use the app for your own personal purposes under these terms and Apple’s licence. Open-source components in Pie are covered by their own licences, listed in the app’s acknowledgements. You keep all rights to the information you enter.

Third-party services

Pie relies on services from Apple and Google, which have their own terms and policies. We aren’t responsible for those services.

Warranties

To the extent the law allows, Pie is provided without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including warranties of fitness for a particular purpose. We don’t promise that Pie will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that data will never be lost. This doesn’t affect any consumer rights you have that can’t be excluded by law.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we aren’t liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, for lost data or profits, or for financial decisions you make based on Pie. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Pie Pro in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that can’t be limited by law.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new effective date. If you keep using Pie after a change takes effect, the updated terms apply.
